IREMO NAME ABROAD IS ASSOCIATED WITH QUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM
The company Iremas, located in Jonava, is celebrating its 23rd year of operation. One of the largest metal processing companies is well known and valued not only in Lithuania. The majority of the company’s customers are Scandinavian companies working on non-standard projects.
According to Aidas Lisonka, Deputy Commercial Director of Iremas, there is no serial production in their work. They are usually approached by customers with very specific orders that require various technological solutions.
“Scandinavians value us because we are flexible and can provide high quality at a reasonable price, and we are also strategically located. Products can reach customers in just one day. The geography of our customers is very wide: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, we have sent products to Turkey, America, Australia, Korea, ”says A. Lisonka.
Gaining their trust is very important when working with foreign clients. Before starting the cooperation, the clients carry out an audit in the company. In 2021 alone, five audits were conducted. According to A. Lisonka, it is very important for customers ordering large-scale orders that the company has a suitable production base, equipment and employs suitably qualified specialists.
“Over the last four years, the company has made significant investments in equipment and a strong team. If we used to be best known as repairers, now our production base has grown significantly, renewed. Currently, one of our main activities is the production of non-standard metal products and their components, ”explains the Deputy Commercial Director.
Gained Scandinavian confidence
According to Mindaugas Alaburda, the project manager of Iremas, the world’s current focus is on renewable energy, which is why many orders are received from this sector.
The company focuses on technologically complex, higher value projects that require experience not only in technology but also in specific knowledge. Iremas currently employs over 100 specialists at its production base.
“Customers usually ask us if we can implement their projects. After analyzing the drawings and calculations, we present a proposal. Very often, special solutions are needed to think about the technological sequence of production, so each order is a unique challenge, ”says M. Alaburda, the project manager.
According to him, one of the last successful projects was a special part of the automated paper roll distribution equipment made for a new customer from Finland – a carousel. The product was manufactured in accordance with all the specified requirements, fully assembled, tested and delivered to the customer. It is likely that this customer will continue to place profitable orders in the future.
“Scandinavians are very conservative, but attached. It takes time to gain their trust, but if all goes well, the collaboration will take a long time. For this reason, it is expedient to make connections and participate in exhibitions. In the autumn we went to Finland and Sweden. Of course, the pandemic affects the size of the exhibitions and the number of participants, but new contacts have still been found, ”says Alaburda.
Non-standard projects – like puzzles
One of the most difficult orders fulfilled this year is port equipment for mooring ships, which has left for Sweden. It was a one-piece product weighing over 10 tonnes to keep the ship moored at the quay. Its production was particularly complex, as a number of technical difficulties related to the dimensions of the product had to be resolved.
As one of the most interesting order project manager, M. Alaburda singles out a custom-made reel made in Norway for the customer, which was shipped to America. Although the project seemed simple in terms of drawings, a number of puzzles had to be solved in its course.
The finished products went to a cable factory under construction in America. The cable will be wound on a carousel made by Iremas. Fully assembled coil diameter – over 46 meters, height – over 7 meters. Such a coil holds 10 thousand tons of high voltage cable.
“This reel was very big, so it was made in parts – like a puzzle. All reel parts have been designed to fit in standard 40-foot marine containers. 28 units were loaded for this project. All of them were transported to Klaipeda in a few days, from where they were delivered to America by ships, ”says M. Alaburda.
Looking back at last year, Iremas said the year was productive and successful. They hope the old partnership won’t break, and new clients are already promising exciting and challenging projects.
