Metal testing laboratory

Metal testing laboratory is the division of UAB IREMAS. It has quality management system applied in organization and execution of destructive and non destructive tests and inspections of welds, parent metal and joints of potentially dangerous equipment with required competence and possibility to provide technically substantiated results of tests and inspections. Laboratory is accredited by the National accreditation office, its activity meets the requirements of the code LST EN ISO/IEC 17025:2006 – “General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories”. Accreditation certificate No. LA.01.111.

Laboratory is accredited to perform:

Evaluation of internal and external defects of potentially dangerous equipment of all groups, other equipment, metal structures produced from sheets, tubes or other rolled metal profiles, metal articles and welds using methods of non-destructive visual test (VT), penetration test (PT), radiographic test (RT) and ultrasound test (UT); tension and hardness testing of sheets, pipes and other rolled metal products; cross tension, bending and hardness testing of welds, as well as metal thickness. measurements using ultrasonic method;

Laboratory performs:

  • determination of metal chemical composition using optical–emission analysis method;
  • determination of spring strength characteristics;
  • metallographic (macro) investigation;
  • measuring of ferrite quantity in metal materials and welds;
  • consultation on welding issues for various welding methods;
  • preparation of welding procedure specifications (WPS).

Personnel:

Laboratory personnel are certified according to the requirements of EN 473. They have certificates in respective areas (VT, PT, RT, UT) of level II and radiographic method level III with PED 97/23/EC record. Supervision and consulting of welding works are performed by specialists having IWE and EWE certificates.
